Choroidal Lymphoma

Introduction

Contain yellow poorly defined lesions that can be multifocal and bilateral in nature, but is typically unilateral.
- Due to low grade nature, it is not a very aggressive disease in the choroid
- Affects more males, also typically affecting ages 50-70

Dead Giveaways

OCT:

  • Reveals 'wavelike' or 'seasick' appearance

  • Wave-like appearance, which is different from normal choroidal tumours that have a smooth or plateu surface

diagnostic features

Primary Uveal Features:

  • Decreased vision

  • Metamorphopsia

  • Clear vitreous, retina unaffected


Secondary Intraocular/choroidal Lymphomas:

  • Can be unilateral or bilateral

  • Decreased vision

  • Variable appearance, manifesting with:

    • choroidal thickening

    • vitreous cells

    • pseudohypopyon
